The banking industry is now well and truly in recovery and indeed positively thriving with a real need for contract staff. Many of the financial institution prefer to hire contract staff over permanent staff giving them greater flexibility in the current market place. London is the international centre for banking and the dominant financial centre within Europe its convenient location yet unique position of being outside the European monetary system make it a very attractive opportunity.
There is a steady demand for staff both in the IT sector and the banking sector itself. The key requirement is to have commercial experience within the banking and finance industry itself (either as a consultant or by directly working in it) and to have good English speaking communication skills both written and verbal.
Roles range from project based work where simply a good understanding of spreadsheets and how they work with some simple database experience, to specialists with international banking experience and qualifications. Roles cover front middle and back office positions with front office sales positions usually being a permanent role but with many of the middle and back office positions being contract. Typically contract positions are found for Business analysts, data analysts, credit analysts, equity analysts and in operational risk. Many new opportunities are arising as a result of the new Banking legislative requirements laid down by the European Union and the need to meet these requirements.
